Zhao Wei has surprised many recently by announcing that she and her entrepreneur husband Huang Youlong have ended their marriage.

As reported on Mingpao, on 28 December, the actress suddenly took to Weibo and posted, “I officially divorced Mr. Huang many years ago, and our marriage has been legally dissolved. Any incidents, remarks or news reports about him have nothing to do with me.”

“I urge all parties to acknowledge these facts and avoid involving me in false connections or baseless reports. Thank you everyone,” she added.

This is also her first post on the social media platform since her last one in early December to mourn the passing of Taiwanese literary icon Chiung Yao.

Zhao married Huang in 2008, and welcomed their daughter Little April the same year. In 2021, the actress suddenly found herself being banned by the Chinese government, with her dramas, movies and appearances removed from all platforms. However, no reason was given as to why she was banned.

The actress has been rumoured to be planning to make a comeback recently, only for news outlets to report allegations about Huang owing a company about HKD 753 million.

Netizens are now speculating that Zhao’s public statement was to avoid being involved in her former husband’s financial disputes.
