It looks like Kris Wu’s scandal has now reached the ears of the Chinese government, with both CCTV and the Youth Work Committee of the China TV Drama Production Industry Association releasing statements about the case.

As reported on Mingpao, on 20 July, the China Central Television (CCTV) released a statement on Weibo, stating that there is a need for the creation of better mechanisms in the entertainment industry to improve on artistes’ moral character.

“Being an artiste is not just a profession – it’s more about taking on social responsibility. The Kris Wu incident is not just a mere entertainment industry gossip, but a legal case and public incident of great influence. It needs comprehensive investigation by the relevant departments to resolve any doubts,” it said.

Kris has denied the allegations that he preyed on under-aged girls

As for the Youth Work Committee, it stated, “The committee members who are cooperating with them should stop losses in time, and those who are negotiating cooperation with them, it is necessary to suspend contact; do not provide the opportunity for unscrupulous actors to “emerge”. “Zero tolerance” should be given to these artistes.”

It was last week that the former EXO member was accused of preying on teenagers and young women, with 19 year-old Du Mizhu claiming that the 30 year-old singer sexually assaulted her when she was 17.

Despite Kris and his agency denying this, more women have recently came out making allegations as well.
