Zhou Dongyu recently became the youngest actress to ever join the panel of judges of the Golden Goblet Award at the 24th Shanghai International Film Festival.
As reported on Tencent, the “Better Days” actress was named the new judge in an announcement made by the organiser recently, after original choice Song Jia withdrew due to work arrangements and conflicting schedules.
At the age of 29, Zhou becomes the first person under the age of 30 to be given the honour and responsibility of choosing the winners, with the previous youngest judge being Xu Jinglei at 32 years old.
Aside from Zhou, other members of the panel of judges include Singapore director Anthony Chen, Belgian cinematographer Matthias Delvaux, as well as French director Natacha Devilers. They will be headed by Chinese director Huang Jianxin.
Despite her young age, it is noted that Zhou has already won multiple Best Actress awards – including from the Asian Film Awards, the Golden Horse Awards, the Hong Kong Film Awards, as well as the Golden Rooster Awards.
