In another episode of “Pointless Things People Buy on eBay”, it was reported that a chicken nugget found itself a winning bid from someone who is willing to pay an exorbitant price for how it looks.
On Friday last week, a McDonald’s chicken nugget (yes, one chicken nugget) supposedly shaped like an “Among Us” character that came from the highly popular BTS meal that was auctioned on eBay since 28 May at US$ 99 cents (approx. RM4) was finally sold at the price of US$99,997 (RM411,000).
Mind you, that the reason it was described as resembling “Among Us” was because it was portly shaped with two stubby legs… and nothing more.

As per the item’s description, the winner will receive the nugget frozen and air-sealed to ensure freshness.
After finding out about the news, Xbox’s official Twitter made a post about the whole thing and joked, “For that price, it must come with Szechuan Sauce.”
The lister of the auction – an account using the handle “polizna”, stated, “Jokes on them.. I have Szechuan and at buyers request will ship some with the nugget.”
However, it is unclear whether bidders were interested in the nugget because it looks like the popular online game character, or if it was because it looks like it AND it came from a BTS Meal.
This is not the first time that people buy weird things at an exorbitant price on e-Bay. In 2013, someone sold a Guinea pig battle armour for USD 24,300 on eBay; while a “ghost in a jar” – which is a peculiar looking jar the seller insists has a ghost in it – was settled on the winning bid of USD 50,922. The buyer never paid up for the latter, possibly after being attacked by the jar ghost. Who knows?
