After much anticipation, it was announced that The Walt Disney Company will be launching its streaming service, Disney+ Hotstar in Malaysia this coming June.

Viewers will now be able to enjoy content from the company’s most iconic entertainment brands, including Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic as well as a wide array of general entertainment series and films for young adult audiences, and home-grown and Asian hits — all in one place beginning 1 June.

This include Disney+ Originals like “The Mandalorian” and “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series”, as well as Marvel Studios’ “WandaVision”, “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” and “Loki”. For fans of blockbuster movies, they can watch many of these titles including Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Endgame”, “Avengers: Infinity War”, and “Black Panther”; Disney’s live action adaptations of “Mulan”, “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil”, “The Lion King”, and “Beauty and the Beast”; as well as animated features like “Moana”, “Frozen” as well as Disney and Pixar’s “Soul”, “Coco” and “Finding Dory”.

Other movies and shows that will be part of the streaming service include the Oscar winner “Nomadland”, Taika Waititi’s “Jojo Rabbit”, Shondaland’s  “Grey’s Anatomy”, and AMC’s “The Walking Dead”.

At the same time, Disney+ Hotstar will also feature other projects from Malaysian studios like Primeworks, Les Copaque, and Skop Productions, and will be the exclusive platform for local films like “J2: J Retribusi”, “Ejen Ali The Movie 2” and shows like TV3’s “Single Terlalu Lama” and “Kekasih Hati Mr. Bodyguard”.

Consumers can subscribe directly to Disney+ Hotstar for RM54.90 for three months, or through special packages with Astro, for access to an extensive collection of content of more than 800 films and 18,000 episodes.
