After being fired by Italian fashion house Prada for her surrogacy scandal, it was revealed that the Huading Awards is also taking its action against mainland actress Zheng Shuang.
As reported on Mingpao, the awards – which is China’s equivalent to the People’c Choice Awards in the US – released a statement recently that it will renounce Zheng’s title of 2016’s Best Actress in a Modern TV Series as well as 2014 Top 100 Favourite TV Stars.
It is noted that Zheng won the 2016 award for her performance in “The Cage of Love”.
Zheng made headlines earlier this week after former boyfriend Zhang Heng accused her of abandoning their two children born via US-based surrogate mothers. The CCP’s Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission also released a statement, saying that Zheng using legal loopholes for such a procedure that is banned in China was “not innocent”.
Aside from renouncing the actress, netizens are also demanding that producers of TV shows and films that had worked with her in recent months to drop Zheng from their projects.
On the other hand, several other companies are also distancing themselves from Zheng, with magazines like Modern Weekly and Harper’s Bazaar deleting past social media posts about her, and brands like Chioture and Lola Rose stressing on social media that their collaboration with Zheng have already ended.
