After the lacklustre reception to its final season, sources are now confirming
that HBO is looking into producing an animated version of the George R.R.
Martin’s fantasy franchise “Game of Thrones”.
The idea of the project is
said to be in a very early stage, with no concept or creative team on board,
and HBO is declining to make any official comments about the possibility of
reintroducing the show as an animation.
The studio is already juggling
several other projects involving George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire”
universe, with prequel, “House of the Dragon” expected to debut in 2022.
Meanwhile, it was reported early this week that there could be another
series adaptation of the writer’s “Tales of Dunk & Egg” which follows the
adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg.

HBO is also in talks of adapting Dunk & Egg |
Another one of these prequels
– a project written by Jane Goldman and starring Naomi Watts – was not picked
up by the studio immediately following the backlash against “Game of Thrones”
finale.
If the project does come to fruition, it would be good news for
many fans of the original series, who had been asking for it for years – with
some of the more creative ones sharing their own artistic take of the animated
version.
