It is finally her time to shine, as Sanrio announced that a theatrical animated film starring Kuromi will be released in 2027, distributed by GAGA.
The news, which was announced on 31 October, came with a promotional visual that read, “Congratulations! Movie adaptation!!! Kuromi is the star.”
A special video was also released featuring Kuromi and henchman Baku celebrating Kuromi’s movie adaptation together, as well as a message from the beloved character.

It read, “I’m going to have a movie in which I’m the star. Isn’t that amazing? It’s all thanks to the KUROMIES who have cheered me on so far. Please look forward to my adventures!”
Details about the movie, including releases in countries and regions other than Japan, will be announced as soon as they are decided.
One of the mascot characters owned by Sanrio, Kuromi, a female anthropomorphic rabbit, is the darker counterpart to My Melody that made her debut in the 2005 anime series, “Onegai My Melody”.
