Hong Kong Cantopop trio Grasshopper has recently been acknowledged by the Guinness World Records for being the longest-running Chinese-language group with an unchanged line-up.

The news was jointly shared by Lam and Lamb Entertainment and the trio themselves on social media on 26 October, with photos of the three members – Edmond So, Calvin Choy and Remus Choy – receiving the honour during their “Three in Love” concert.

They stated, “This record belongs not only to Grasshopper, but also to every fan who has journeyed alongside the group over the past 40 years. Your love and support have accompanied Grasshopper through every important moment.”

“Grasshopper promises everyone that as long as there is still a stage to perform on, we will keep dancing, keep singing, and keep breaking our own records every single day!”

According to the record adjudicator from the Guinness World Records, Jacob Yip, “Since July 4, 1985, the members have always been Calvin Choy, Edmond So, and Remus Choy, the three of them, without any changes. This relationship is truly remarkable as they’ve genuinely stood together through thick and thin, in good times and bad, in poverty and wealth, in health and in poor health.”

“This record is full of vitality; as long as you continue on stage, the record will keep being broken,” he added.
