Japanese all-female band SCANDAL recently revealed that they will end their run in August next year.
On 24 August, the four-member band made the announcement on their official website, stating, “Throughout our 20 years of activity, we have travelled all over Japan and the world, visited many places, met many people, and had various experiences that we could not have had if we had not lived as SCANDAL. We feel that we have ‘done everything’ we could as a group of four.”
“It was a really difficult decision, but after many discussions among the four of us, we arrived at this answer,” they added.
SCANDAL shared that their activities will end with a live performance at Yokohama Arena in Kanagawa on 21 August 2027. They also announced a nationwide tour visiting all 47 prefectures from 22 October 2026 to 1 May 2027.
Formed in 2006 in Osaka, the band consists of Haruna on vocals and rhythm guitar, Mami on lead guitar, Tomomi on bass guitar, and Rina on drums. In August 2023, their 17th year since formation, the band was certified by the Guinness World Records as the longest still-active female rock band with the same founding members.
