Shao Bing recently confirmed that he has withdrawn from participating in the latest season of the reality show, “Call Me By Fire”.

On 12 August, the 58-year-old actor took to Weibo to share an update, saying, “Due to a recurrence of an old shoulder injury during recent training, I must stop all training for systematic treatment and rest, as advised by my doctor.”

“After several days of repeated discussions and careful consideration with the production team, we have finally decided that I will not continue to participate in the recording of ‘Call me By Fire 2026’. Although I couldn’t fully shine this early autumn, my passion will never fade. I will follow my doctor’s advice to recover fully and look forward to having the opportunity to make up for this regret next year.”

Shao Bing’s withdrawal is expected to have a significant impact on the show, seeing that he was supposed to form the show’s first ever father-son duo with his 22-year-old son, Shao Ziheng.

With Shao Bing’s departure, the central “generational clash” element has effectively disappeared. Although Shao Ziheng will continue with the competition as originally planned, it remains to be seen whether he can generate enough attention on his own.
