Zoie Tam has finally broken her silence regarding her bankruptcy petitions against producer Gary Tang and actress Lu Jingjing that she filed last month.
Speaking to the media at the promotional event for her new drama on 22 July, the actress said that resorting to legal action was a decision made after long consideration and out of desperation. She admitted that she had been thinking about it for two years, during which time she had been unable to contact the other parties.
She also indicated that if there was no response, she would take legal action, though she admitted that she would rather not have it end up in court.
Zoie refused to disclose the amount owed, emphasising that every penny was earned through her own hard work, adding, “I think, whoever it is, if you borrow, you should repay. It is a matter of integrity.”
“I learned from this experience. I thought I could help at that moment, but in the end, it hurt our relationship,” she added.
As for her lawsuit exposing the marital relationship between Gary and Lu, Zoie said that it was unintentional.
