Yang Zi could not help but feel elated to win Best Actress for the first time from the Magnolia Awards.
The actress, who won for her performance in “Born to be Alive,” cried on the spot when her name was announced during the event held on 26 June, and expressed surprise after having lost four times prior.
In her speech, she expressed, “I feel that this trophy will definitely not be my end, but the starting point for actress Yang Zi.”
“As long as you persevere, don’t care about the opinions of others, and stick to your original aspirations, you will definitely reach the other side of your dreams.”
In an interview with CCTV, Yang Zi said that she sometimes feels discouraged and doubts herself. Before the awards were announced, she wondered if there was even a sliver of hope of winning.
After the awards were announced, she said, “My time has come! I am truly grateful to have encountered this role at the right age. It wasn’t a deliberate transformation, nor was it to prove anything to anyone. I just felt in my heart that I was capable of doing it.”
