Chinese actor Liu Zirui recently announced that he is retiring from the entertainment industry.
The actor, who is married to actress Lin Xin’ai, shared the news on 31 January via a social media post, which he titled, “The Last Time I Meet Everyone as an Actor”.
“Seven years of light and shadow, ten years of ups and downs, although I never became hugely famous, I am deeply grateful for everything. Along the way, I’ve heard far too many doubts. Most of the time, those voices even came from your own relatives and friends, everyone waiting to see you make a fool of yourself. More often than not, the ones who truly support you are strangers on the other side of the screen, so I sincerely thank you all,” he expressed.
Saying that he has now understood very clearly what he has gained over the years, he added, “Getting married, starting a family, having a baby, [I realised] those halos under the spotlight, and the so-called perfect image that must be constantly maintained, are actually illusions. Because real happiness is the light that’s on when you come home, and the real person by your side. So, I no longer need to prove anything to anyone. Returning to family and returning to life is not an escape; it is simply another way of living that I have chosen.”
Liu Zirui officially announced his marriage to well-known actress Li Xin’ai at the beginning of last year, and shared the news of the birth of their daughter in August the same year.
