Sho Miyake’s “Two Seasons, Two Strangers” was recently named the winner of the Golden Leopard award at the Locarno Film Festival.
The movie, which follows the journey of a screenwriter who reflects on her life through her encounter with strangers, became the first Japanese movie to win following 2007’s “The Rebirth”, helmed by Masahiro Kobayashi.
It also marks the fourth time that a Japanese film has won the said award.
Said Miyake, “In a world where many terrible things are happening, I keep thinking about what films can do. During the process of making this film, I felt a love for this world. If I can share that with others, I would be even happier.”
Based on the manga “Mr. Ben and his Igloo, A View of the Seaside” by Yoshiharu Tsuge, the movie stars Shim Eun-kyung in the lead.
