The controversy surrounding the movie “The Assassination(s)” that escalated into a boycott targeting actor Yoo Hae-jin has now prompted his agency to release a statement of warning.
On 5 October, VAST Entertainment expressed via its official social media that “We view all acts that infringe on the actor’s personal privacy, threaten his safety, or defame his reputation very seriously.”
The agency explained that slander and false information targeting Yoo Hae-jin have recently been spreading indiscriminately on online communities and social media, and that malicious personal attacks and insults are also continuing.
“Thus, we are gathering information and we plan to take all possible measures to protect the rights and safety of our actor from illegal activities,” it added.

It is noted that the anger towards the movie has now being directed to Yoo, with many demanding a boycott of products from companies for which he serves as a model ambassador.
It has also spread into real life as well, after members of a conservative group held a rally in front of the actor’s home in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, demanding the suspension of the film’s screening and apologies from the production team and actors.
The film was recently accused of historical distortion, particularly regarding its suggestion that the Park Chung-hee administration may have been involved in the 1974 assassination of First Lady Yuk Young-soo.
