Carina Lau recently revealed that she and husband Tony Leung Chiu Wai managed to have a meet-up with The Weeknd just as the Canadian singer-songwriter arrived in Hong Kong for his concert.
On 18 October, the actress-producer posted several photos of her and Tony with the singer with the backdrop of the Hong Kong skyline, and captioned it, “What a perfect weekend with The Weeknd!”
One of the photos include a menu that the singer signed for the couple, which read, “Thank you for an incredible night.”
On the other hand, The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) also shared a photo of himself talking with Tony during dinner, and chose Faye Wong’s classic song “Dream Lover” as the background music – a song associated with Tony’s film “Chungking Express” – much to the delight of fans.
It is noted that The Weeknd has previously revealed that he greatly admires Tony’s cinematic aesthetics, which are also an important source of inspiration for his creative work.
The singer will be performing at the Kai Tak Stadium as part of his “After Hours Til Dawn” concert at the end of the month.
