It seems that people can’t even let Anita Mui rest in peace, as it was revealed that the Cantopop queen’s ashes have yet to be found after it was stolen back in July.
In a statement released by the Anita Mui International Fan Club on 10 October, which marked her birthday, it was revealed that fans who went to pay their respect back on 18 July found that the urn containing her ashes was missing from the niche at the Po Lin Monastery where it was interred.
Though they have notified the Mui family, which in turn had filed a report with the police, there has been no progress in the investigation after three months.
Thus, the fan club is requesting that members of the public who visited the area before 18 July of this year to contact them if they had witnessed any suspicious persons. They also asked drivers who drove to the Hoi Wai Pagoda or Po Lin Monastery in that month to provide footages from relevant dates.
“If you have any clues, photos, or videos, please contact us immediately through the following channels (all information will be kept strictly confidential): Lantau District Crime Squad: +852 3661 1938; WhatsApp Hotline: +852 4740 1308,” the statement added.
