Family friend and media personality Poon Siu Man recently revealed that Anita Mui’s mother Tam Mei Kam (aka Mother Mui) had no knowledge about the theft of the late singer’s remains prior to her passing.
Poon, who spoke about the issue in a livestream on 11 October after news of the incident was reported, said that neither family members nor friends had told Mother Mui because, “Even if we had told her, she might not have understood or been able to process what had happened.”
“In the final days of her life, she had essentially returned to a childlike state,” she added.
It was back on 10 October, which was also Anita Mui’s birthday, that her international fan club revealed that the urn containing Anita’s remains had been stolen since July.
Despite the family having reported it to the police after the theft was discovered, there has been no development in the investigation. Thus, they have decided to make it public in hopes to find anybody with information regarding the case.
It is noted that the location of Anita’s resting place was kept a secret for a long time, with her niche displaying no photograph of the late Cantopop diva. However, the location had always been an open secret among some of her longtime fans.
