Stephanie Ho recently stated that she is no longer interested in discussing the allegations of “abandonment” thrown her way for her decision to work in Hong Kong and leaving son Asher with husband Fred Cheng in Canada.
The singer, who sparked backlash for previously revealing that she and Fred are doing the long distance due to her work obligations especially as Asian Games’ commentator for HOY TV, said that she will now focus on her work going forward.
Thanking everyone for their concern, Stephanie said that she needs to balance work and personal life, and will no longer respond to media inquiries.
“Fred and I have reached a consensus. He’s very busy, taking care of our son in Vancouver while also working, but we prioritise our son above all else! We’re not thinking about other things, like whether being apart will affect our relationship!” she said.
It is noted that Asher, who is now two, was diagnosed with Angelman syndrome, a rare genetic disorder, in 2024. The couple had publicly shared his diagnosis at the time to raise awareness of the condition, which affects development, behaviour and health. Fred and Asher are in Canada so they can be close to the BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, which has a specialised clinic for treating the condition.
On the other hand, Stephanie said that she had developed a better sleep schedule since starting work.
“I used to sleep late, but these past few days I’ve had to work earlier, so I’m in bed by 7 or 8 pm every night! Because I’m going to bed so early, I get up very early, and I even have time to go to the gym before I get home, so I’m feeling much healthier!” she added.
