It was reported that Na Ying may face a penalty for performing an impromptu song at her recent concert as a tribute to her dear friend, Liu Huan.
On 26 September, a day after Liu Huan’s death was announced, Na Ying took to the stage at her solo concert in Chengdu, and decided to sing the composer’s classic hit, “The Crescent Moon” in remembrance of him.
However, after the performance, some netizens pointed out that the song was not originally on the concert’s setlist, and may be considered an unapproved piece. According to the current official “Regulations on the Administration of Commercial Performances,” changing the programme during a performance without re-approval is a violation.
On 28 September, an official from the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of Jinniu District, Chengdu, responded that relevant departments are currently investigating and verifying the matter.
“A performance without prior approval will be handled in accordance with laws and regulations,” a rep stated.
However, it is not known whether the authorities will have a leaner approach towards this situation, seeing that it involves Na Ying mourning her friend.
When asked about it, the event organiser stated, “It is not convenient for us to comment more.”
