Jin Chen’s camp is threatening legal action against those who accused the model-actress of going abroad to secretly give birth, after it was reported earlier that she is currently studying in the United States.
On 1 September, her studio shared a statement released by Beijing Daozhang Law Firm, which stated, “Recently, the Client discovered that a large number of identical/similar articles and videos targeting her, centred on the topic of ‘Jin Chen giving birth abroad,’ appeared on various online platforms almost simultaneously. Investigation revealed that a certain entity created group chat platforms, distributed relevant online materials to users within the groups, and paid a large number of users to simultaneously publish false information about the Client, which constitutes a serious offense.”
“Based on the Client’s statements and commitments, the claim of ‘Jin Chen giving birth abroad’ in the relevant online materials is seriously false, has clearly misled public judgment, damaged the Client’s public image, and has had an extremely negative impact.”
The law firm stated that it was entrusted to file lawsuits against several social media users whose alleged defamation of the actress involved relatively serious circumstances.
“We request the court to order the relevant online platforms to disclose the real-name identity information of the aforementioned users. Upon receiving the disclosed real-name identity information from the online platforms, our law firm will continue to pursue legal action against those with serious defamation, demanding that the defendants bear legal responsibility for infringement, including public apologies and compensation for losses,” the law firm added.
It also stated that if any relevant parties continue to maliciously organise, disseminate, refuse to delete, or continue to publish content suspected of infringement, they will take measures such as administrative reporting, civil litigation, and criminal reporting to pursue the legal responsibility of the relevant parties in accordance with the law.
