Mana Ashida is set to star in the Japanese remake of the hit Korean drama, “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”.
The drama, titled “Extraordinary Attorney Minami” will have Mana playing Minami Minamida, a young woman with autism spectrum disorder who graduated at the top of her class from the University of Tokyo’s Faculty of Law and passed the bar examination with the highest score.
However, when she began looking for a job, she found herself up against society’s prejudices toward people with autism spectrum disorder, until she was hired at Hirokawa & Howard Law Office, one of the leading law firms in the industry.
The series will premiere in October via Kansai TV/Fuji TV as well as Netflix.
The original drama attracted widespread attention for its endearing protagonist Woo Young-woo, heartwarming storyline and dramatic courtroom twists. The success of the series garnered Park Eun-bin, who played the lead role, the Grand Prize in the TV category at the Baeksang Arts Awards. The series also ranked No. 1 on Netflix’s Global Top 10 for non-English TV series for seven consecutive weeks, gaining popularity not only in South Korea but around the world.
