Jay Chou’s camp has recently slammed speculations that the singer-songwriter has an illegitimate child with another woman.
The whole issue sparked recently, when mainland paparazzo Zhuo Wei claimed that a certain three-character superstar in the Chinese music scene co-owns a catering and entertainment company in Xi’an with a woman surnamed Liu, and that they developed a romantic relationship.
He said that the woman eventually gave birth to a child, but the father was not named. However, Zhuo Wei provided key clues that prompted netizens to point to Jay Chou and his former business partner Liu Ruoxue.
In response to the speculations, on 6 August, JVR Music issued a statement that read, “The online rumours are all false and purely malicious fabrications. We strongly condemn their deliberate insinuations and attention-seeking behaviour aimed at gaining traffic.”
“The internet is not a lawless zone, and anyone who fabricates or disseminates false information shall bear corresponding legal responsibility. Our company has entrusted lawyers to preserve evidence against the publishers and disseminators of the relevant false information and reserves all rights to pursue their legal responsibilities according to law.”
