Jackson Yee has recently bested Hong Kong veteran Tony Leung Kar Fai to win Best Actor at the 38th Hundred Flowers Awards.
It was revealed that Jackson narrowly defeated Tony — who was nominated for his role in ‘The Shadow’s Edge’ — winning with 48 votes to the Tony’s 43 votes, a margin of just 5 votes.
Jackson won for his performance as a man with cerebral palsy in “Big World”.
During the backstage interview, Jackson said that over the past six years — from winning Best Newcomer at the Hundred Flowers Awards to now winning Best Actor — he has focused most of his energy on acting. He added that he has taken on a range of different, challenging roles that he hopes will make a difference to audiences, and that he feels he has grown a lot as a result.
When asked about his future goals and ambitions in film, the actor said, “I’m not someone who has a clear vision for the future. Plus, there are a lot of changes now, and everyone has their own uncertain visions of the future. I hope to become bolder and bolder.”
