Despite her son Morton Cheung inheriting both parents’ good looks, Anita Yuen recently admitted that it is not yet time for her only son to be thinking about joining showbiz.
The actress, who sat down for an interview on a radio show recently, said that being an artiste is not just about good looks, as one needs to have the talent, personal charm and inner strength to be able to withstand the pressure of being in the business.
“I won’t easily let him enter the entertainment industry, as that path is extremely difficult. Unless one day my son writes a very impressive song, that’s a different story,” she said.
Anita also stated that she will not use resources to pave the way for her son at this stage, adding that Morton has to work hard and get a professional’s approval first before he can even join dad Julian Cheung on stage at a concert.
At the same time, Anita said that she did feel sorry for her son, as he was born into a family of celebrity parents.
“Many times, whatever he does or says is magnified by the outside world. Although there are gains and losses, I often tell my son, ‘There’s nothing I can do. I am sorry that because of us, he has lost some of the freedom that ordinary people should have,'” she said.
