Raymond Wong (aka Wong Pak Ming) is now serving his five-month sentence, after revoking his bail application.
The 80-year-old actor-producer, who was previously convicted of sharing insider information with his sister, earlier had been released on a HKD 200,000 bail pending an appeal against his conviction.
However, on 17 June, he decided to voluntarily withdraw his bail at the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Court, stating that he will content to begin serving his sentence effective immediately.
Magistrate Ko Wai Hung has granted the application.
Raymond Wong, chairman and controlling shareholder of Pegasus Motion Pictures Holdings Limited, was convicted of instigating or facilitating another person to trade Pegasus Motion Pictures shares between August and October 2017.
He was sentenced to five months in prison and was also ordered to pay HKD 99,720 in fine.
