Carman Lee wants you to know that not being married or having children does not mean that your life is incomplete.
In a recent Weibo post, the actress decided to share her two cents on the topic that had been trending on the social media platform. She will be turning 60 in August.
She posted, “My mother used to worry that I’d be lonely being alone, but over the years, seeing my changes and feeling my genuine happiness, she’s gradually stopped worrying about whether her daughter absolutely needs a partner.”
“I believe the completeness of life is never determined by a particular identity. I’ve loved others earnestly in the past, and now I understand how to love myself more and more. There’s no right or wrong, no absolute standard,” she added.
Carman said that she hopes to be a good example for her niece, not so that she will follow her path, but so that she will realise that life is not about giving yourself unconditionally to others.
“I’ve always felt that the love and connection between three generations of women is a gentle yet powerful force. I hope this force can be passed on to every lovely girl. At only 60 years old, I want to say to everyone: Don’t worry too much about what others consider “complete” or “perfect.” Your genuine happiness is the best answer in life,” she added.
