Following news of Edan Lui’s involvement in the Hong Kong remake of Japanese hit series, “Long Vacation,” it was revealed that Ali Lee is in talks to play the lead actress in the new ViuTV project.

The actress, who spoke to the media about the upcoming series, said there were still details to discuss, but progress was good. She knows they are currently writing the script and has heard that filming will begin in the second half of the year.

“Every place has its own culture, and the script always aims to be close to Hong Kong culture. If it can be adapted into a TV series that reflects local culture, I think that’s a good thing,” she said.

Asked if she feels pressured to play the Hong Kong version of Minami Hayama, which was made famous by actress Tomoko Yamaguchi, Ali responded that she has not felt any pressure since filming hasn’t started.

“I really liked that drama; I watched it all the time, and I even learned to play the piano because of the music played by the main characters,” she added.

As for criticisms over Edan’s casting for the role of Sena, the original character played by Takuya Kimura, Ali said, “I’ve never worked with him before, but I met him once at a director’s meeting and found him quite charming. I’ve seen his films from different periods; he has a wide range, and he gives me different feelings in each role. So, I look forward to working with him.”

“We’re not trying to be like Takuya Kimura or Tomoko Yamaguchi. I think every actor has their own way of portraying a character; there’s no need to imitate,” she added.
