In celebration of “Back to the Past” accumulating over HKD 96 million in box office revenue in Hong Kong and Macau for the past two months, the team recently launched a two-day appreciation event to thank fans for their support.
Lead stars Louis Koo and Jessica Hsuan recently attended several of these screenings to express their gratitude to the audience for their continued support of the film. The atmosphere was lively, with the two exchanging witty remarks and displaying playful behaviour, filling the venue with joy and turning the thank-you screenings into fan club gatherings.
Jessica even acted as a fan photographer, taking videos of Louis’ fans and their idol. Among the fans were many children who came with their parents to see their idols. One child in particular stole the spotlight, dressed as the Little King of Qin, which caught the eye of Louis, who has always loved children.
Expressing their gratitude for the support, Jessica said, “We’re so happy! We’ve taken advantage of the time to hold two consecutive days of thank-you screenings. Many fans have watched it countless times since its release at the end of December last year, which is incredibly supportive. Some have even come from all over the world to support us, having to travel by plane and book hotels. It’s really not easy!”
“Looking at these fans, you can see that even after more than 20 years since the series ‘A Step into the Past’ aired, they still love and are deeply involved in this story, growing alongside it. This kind of support is truly invaluable.”
Louis also felt the audience’s enthusiasm, especially the parents who dressed their children up. He praised them, saying, “Although this 3-year-old Little King Qin may not know who Jessica Hsuan and I are, or who the King is, his parents are willing to put in this effort to support him, which makes me extremely happy.”
As for the audience’s particular fondness for the onscreen couple, Louis was asked if he would consider filming a spin-off about the two characters. To this he said, “Anything can happen in this world, maybe I can consider it!”
