Jonathan Cheung has recently dismissed rumours that he departed from TVB due to salary issue.
The actor, who left the company back in November last year, recently spoke about the departure in an interview, saying that the company had always treated him well and that his salary has never been an issue.
“In the end, everything we discussed, whether it was the remuneration or other conditions, were actually very good,” he said.
As to the actual reason why he decided to leave, Jonathan said that he just wanted to step out of his comfort zone and try different things.
“The reason I chose to leave is to see and try some new possibilities. The environment is different now than before; it’s no longer just about movies and TV series,” he said.
Emphasising that he always completed his work with a professional attitude, and that his parting with TVB was amicable, the actor added, “I basically continued filming until the day my contract ended. I believe everyone saw that I was still filming until the very last moment.”
As for his future work, Jonathan said that he was lucky to have been contacted by several agencies after leaving the broadcaster. However, he said that details of the cooperation cannot be disclosed at this time.
