From a self-described TV child, Fish Liew recently expressed elation that she is now an actress who has been recognised by the Hong Kong Film Critics Society.
The Malaysian-born actress, who won Best Actress for her performance in “Someone Like Me,” shared with the media that she spent a lot of her childhood being “babysat” by the TV, as her parents were very busy.
“My dad had a friend who sold pirated VCDs, so he would bring a lot of those home. But he didn’t realise that there were also Hong Kong films and Category III movies among them, so I watched all kinds of movies since I was a child,” said Fish.
The actress added that that had nurtured her love for the world of movies and find it very romantic.
“I hope more romantic things will happen in my life. Now I am standing here, and Sean Lau is presenting me with this award. It is amazing!” she said.
As for being nominated at the 44th Hong Kong Film Awards for the same movie, Fish said that she would love to win a second accolade this year, but realise that she cannot control the outcome.
