Jet Li recently dismissed the notion of him downgrading his star quality by agreeing to do a kung fu micro-drama.
The actor surprised many earlier after he appeared at the launch of a new drama, ” Yuan Li Jiang Hu” in Chongqing, where it was revealed that he is making a special appearance in the project.
Responding to criticism regarding the choice to do the drama, Jet’s camp stated that it was the actor’s duty to promote the Chinese culture and that he hopes to introduce Chinese martial arts to a wider audience in a more fragmented and fast-paced format that will resonate with modern audiences.
Jet shared that he was willing to play a supporting role in order to fully support the young actors and help them achieve their dreams.
It was also revealed that Jet even personally directed the action scenes on set, and that the micro-drama is a joint-production between the Bishan District Culture and Tourism Development Committee in Chongqing.
Speaking to the media at the launch, he stated, “My biggest dream is to let the younger generation understand the spirit of martial arts through a kung fu micro-drama.”
