It looks like there is no more Toby and Benny, as actress Toby Chan announced that she and her billionaire boyfriend Benny Yeung have called it quits on their relationship.
The actress and former beauty queen, who spoke to the media to promote TVB’s new programme in Tsim Sha Tsui recently, shared that she and Benny have actually ended their romance three months ago.
“I know everyone is concerned. Actually, I wanted to talk about it before, but a lot has happened recently, and I felt it was not the right time. My current relationship status is single… I know everyone wants to know why, but I feel that some things should be kept to ourselves,” she said.
However, Toby stressed that there was no third party involved.
“I can only say that after getting to know each other, we found that we had different ideas. Most importantly, our values are different,” she added.
It is noted that Toby and Benny, the latter the founder of personal care brand Choi Fung Hong, have been together for eight years prior to the breakup.
Toby added that she is currently focusing on moving out of their shared home.
As to whether marriage was the reason for the breakup, she said, “We actually reached a consensus on marriage a long time ago. I’ve said it many times; we haven’t thought about that step. I haven’t lied; I’m not in a rush, so it’s definitely not that issue.”
When asked if she is ready for a new relationship, she said, “Of course I’m not ready. Some things need time to settle down. Eight years is a long time. Sometimes it feels like I’ve lost myself. I need to think about what I like and what I want to do.”
