“Back to the Past”, the movie sequel to TVB’s classic 2001 drama series, “A Step into the Past”, is finally set for release after years of delay.
The movie, which had earned a reputation as an “urban legend” after being in post-production for such a long time, will finally be on the big screen on 31 December.
The movie reunites the full original cast, including Louis Koo as Hong Siu Lung, Raymond Lam as Ying Ching, Jessica Hsuan as Wu Ting Fong, Sonija Kwok as Kam Chin, and Joyce Tang as Sin Yau.
Set years after the events of the drama, the story follows Hong Siu Lung, who has retired to a quiet rural life. But his unresolved fate with Chiu Poon, who has now become the feared Qin ruler, plunges him once again into a dangerous power struggle.
In order to protect his family and loved ones, Hong must return to the turbulent world of Qin politics, confronting destiny, loyalty and betrayal.
The film also introduces new roles, including Hong Siu Lung’s now-grown son Hong Bou Yi, played by Kevin Chu (Chu Kam-yin). The character, a child in the TV series, now returns as a courageous young warrior.
“Back to the Past” aims to reignite the nostalgia of long-time fans while at the same time expand the time-travel saga for a new generation.
