Shu Qi recently admitted that she never thought she would get married before meeting now husband, actor-director Stephen Fung.

The actress, who sat down for an interview on Carol Cheng’s talk show, said that she grew up in a violent environment, which inspired her to helm her first directorial effort, “Girl”.

Stating that her childhood memories are only about her being abused by her parents, Shu Qi said that she never thought she would get married when she grew up.

“When I was young, I didn’t believe in the concept of fidelity. So, I never thought about getting married. But in the end, I did,” she said.

Shu Qi tied the knot with Hong Kong star Stephen back in 2016.

She also dismissed the notion that her childhood made her not want to be a mother.

“I have always wanted children. I just haven’t,” she added.
