Five months after it was rumoured that his marriage was in trouble, Li Yapeng finally confirmed that he and his wife, Haiha Jinxi have called it quits on their marriage.
The former actor, who married Jinxi who was 19 years his junior nine years after his divorce from Faye Wong, shared a joint statement on Weibo, that read, “I originally wanted to keep this private, but too many friends were concerned. After discussion, we’ve decided to make it public. We have already completed the divorce procedures earlier.”
“Our child will live with the mother, and both of us will share custody,” he added.
Rumours of marital woes have sparked as early as May this year. During a livestream Q&A, netizens asked Jinxi whether the lack of photos of the two of them together in recent months meant that they are divorced, to which she jokingly replied, “Yes.”
But she then quickly clarified, “No, no, it’s not like what everyone thinks. Just because we haven’t appeared together for a while doesn’t mean there’s a problem or that we’ve divorced. Thank you all for your concern.”
She also stressed that they were both working hard for their family in their own ways.
