Lee Dong-gun was recently diagnosed with an incurable disease.

The revelation came in an episode of SBS’ “My Little Old Boy”, a show that features celebrities who are still single past the prime age of marriage.

In this episode, the actor was filmed visiting a hospital for severe symptoms on his eye.

Lee said that for the past year or so, he had suffered from severe eye congestion, photophobia and blurred vision. He then shared that he was later diagnosed with “uveitis” and had to rely on eye drops and antibiotics for long-term control.

The doctor, of whom he shared the information on the show, told him that it was odd, and suggested that he possibly has been suffering from ankylosing spondylitis, an inflammatory disease that, over time, can cause some of the bones in the spine, called vertebrae, to fuse.

His diagnosis was supported by Lee’s x-ray result, which showed severe inflammations in the sacroiliac joint.

While it has no cure, the symptoms can be managed to slow its progress, and the doctor told Lee to manage his diet and refrain from alcohol and tobacco.
