Fan Shiqi has recently cancelled his Chengdu concert, amid rumours that he was somehow involved in the death of actor Yu Menglong.

On 9 October, his studio shared the news of the cancellation, saying that the concert, which was scheduled for 18 October, had to be cancelled due to Fan’s physical condition.

They stated that the decision was made “after evaluation and strong recommendations from a professional medical team and comprehensive consideration by the team.”

The team also stated that subsequent tickets refund processing, transportation and accommodation compensation matters will be carried out in succession.

The news sparked heated discussions among netizens, who believed that Fan’s cancellation of the concert was related to his alleged recent involvement in the incident in which Yu Menglong fell to his death.

On 11 September, 37-year-old Yu Menglong fell to his death from a building in a Beijing residential complex. Police quickly ruled the death as an accidental death caused by alcohol intoxication.

However, a blogger alleged that Yu Menglong was at a party with six people the night of his death, with some reporting 17. The attendees included a director, a screenwriter, an agent, a relative of a high-ranking Chinese Communist Party official, and actors Song Yiren and Fan Shiqi.

Although Fan and his studio have responded to the rumours, calling them “groundless” and calling for an end to the defamatory statements, the controversy continues. It is reported that the rumours resulted in only 15 tickets being sold for Fan’s concert.
