After being shortlisted for the main competition at the 82nd Venice Film Festival, Shu Qi’s first self-written and directed film, “Girl” has now another piece of good news.

It has been selected for the Centrepiece section of the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

The film will be making its North American premiere via the TIFF, following its world premiere in Competition at Venice.

Shu Qi expressed her utter delight at the successive international film festivals acclaim, saying, “I’d like to thank the entire crew for their hard work, starting in the sweltering May and continuing through the scorching June, July, August, and September, to ensure that ‘Girl’ received such a strong performance at international film festivals.”

Producer Yeh Ju-feng said, “Thank you for being shortlisted for the Toronto International Film Festival. We hope the film will reach even more audiences, both in Europe and across North America.”

“Thinking back to the scorching summer of last year, and the hard work the crew put in filming, I’d like to thank them once again” she added.

The 50th Toronto International Film Festival will be held in Toronto, Canada from 4 to 14 September.
