Aaron Kwok has recently been appointed the honorary anti-drug commissioner by the Narcotics Division of Hong Kong’s Security Bureau.
Announcing the appointment at a publicity event for the “Anti-Drug, New Era” campaign on 3 August, Secretary of Security Chris Tang said that Aaron was appointed as part of the Hong Kong government’s latest campaign to stamp out the new novel drug, etomidate.
It is noted that Aaron was an anti-drug ambassador back in 2014.
“In recent years, various types of drugs have started infiltrating school campuses. The harmful effects of substances are especially serious and must be addressed with urgency. Etomidate is classified as a dangerous drug that absolutely must not be consumed,” said the singer.
Aaron also offered words of advice to the youth ambassadors, encouraging them to pay closer attention to their peers at school and to speak up or alert school authorities if they notice any signs of drug use.
The government has stepped up efforts to crack down on etomidate, formerly known as “space oil”, commonly sold in e-cigarette liquid capsules and used in vapes. One of the main ingredients in etomidate was originally used as an anaesthetic in hospitals or administered to animals in rare cases.
