Following the success of “KPop Demon Hunters”, it was revealed that Ji-young Yoo will be starring in an upcoming Paramount and Hybe America’s K-pop film.

The project, which has yet to reveal its title, is written by Eileen Shim (“House of the Dragon”), and will be directed by Benson Lee (“Battle of the Year”).

Yoo will be working alongside singer-songwriter Eric Nam.

Sharing the good news on Instagram, Yoo posted, “If 15-year-old me could see me now. I will try my best.”

The film, which will be shot entirely in South Korea, centres around a young Korean-American woman, who defies her family’s wishes to compete in a televised competition to find the next K-pop girl group. The film is slated for theatrical release in 2027.

Yoo recently voiced Zoey in the Netflix animated feature, which has become a big hit on the streamer.

Hybe America is the American branch of K-pop giant Hybe, which acts as the parent companies to several labels that house stars like BTS, Seventeen, Le Sserafim and Enhypen.
