Model-actress Mariya Nishiuchi recently announced that she is retiring from the entertainment industry.

Sharing the news via social media, the actress, who is also a singer-songwriter, said that her contract with her management agency will expire at the end of the month, and that she has decided to quit showbiz for good.

While the English version of her statement provided a shorter message, Mariya posted a much longer explanation in Japanese, writing, “I won’t go into detail about the reason, but this year I found out that my family was involved in a certain incident. Although I was not involved in this matter, I considered that it might become a big problem due to the situation and cause trouble to the relevant people, so I stopped my entertainment activities.”

She also apologised for unilaterally suspending her fan subscription service, acknowledging that due to the situation, it became difficult to provide updates that would satisfy everyone.

“I think I need to spend time with my family and face myself now. I want to rest my mind, reorganise my mood, and move towards a new life,” she added.

Mariya went on to talk about how she had met many people in recent years, saying that her work and private life were very fulfilling. She was able to continue her activities during this period thanks to everyone’s support.

“Thank you for always giving me strength and supporting me. Although I feel a sense of sadness because this is not how I wanted things to end, I really am grateful to all of you. Now I just want to be grateful for the days ahead and find my own life. I hope everyone can have a wonderful day.”
