Janet Jackson has been chosen to be this year’s recipient of the Icon Award at the 2025 American Music Awards.
The pop diva, who will be honoured for her cultural and global influence in the industry, will also perform live at the event, to be held at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas on 26 May.
This will make it her first performance on television in seven years.
One of the most influential entertainers of the modern era and the youngest child of the Jackson family, Janet Jackson has won 11 American Music Awards trophies throughout her career. She has also sold over 100 million records, making her one of the world’s best-selling music artistes.
Jackson expressed, “Thank you so much, AMAs!! It’s an honour. We look forward to being on your stage again. See you in Vegas!”
This year’s event will be hosted by Jennifer Lopez. Kendrick Lamar receives the most nomination with 10, with Post Malone going second with eight nominations.
