Liu Ye recently assured that he is fine, after fans expressed shock over seeing his current state following an appearance at a public event.
As reported on Oriental Daily, the actor, who hasn’t made a public appearance for a long time, recently attended the Shanghai Auto Show as a guest, and took photos with some of the cars exhibited.
However, fans were quick to notice that the actor seemed very haggard. His cheekbones were prominent and eyes sunken, and even his frame seemed smaller in his light grey suit and off-white trousers.
It had since sparked heated discussion, with some saying that Liu was so thin that he was almost unrecognisable. Others are speculating if the actor is experiencing some sort of ailment.
In response to the speculations, the actor posted on Weibo, “Yes, I’ve lost weight. I just wrapped filming a drama that tells an incredibly difficult yet legendary chapter of history. A lot of friends and family have been asking if I’m seriously ill. I mean, come on!! I started losing weight as soon as I got the script earlier this year.”
Liu said that he went from 77.5kg to 69kg, but assured that it is not that extreme since he is 186cm tall.
“Now that filming’s done, it’s time to eat like crazy. ‘Mukbang Liu Ye’ coming soon — stay tuned!” he added jokingly.
