After receiving backlash for his previous public appearance, Chris Wang recently took to social media to announce that he will take long-term responsibility for his past misconduct.
The Taiwanese actor, who was sentenced to eight months in prison last year for sexually assaulting a female colleague, posted on social media after the event organiser was blasted and criticised for inviting him. In his statement, Chris apologised to the organisers, his family and friends for the undeserved pressure and attacks they have endured because of him.
“My intention was to support a simple and beautiful cause, but I underestimated the negative impact my presence would bring… My past actions have caused irreparable harm. Even though the law has rendered its judgment, this is not something that can simply end with the words “it’s over.” Therefore, I will no longer defend myself, nor will I ask for forgiveness. Instead, I choose to take real and long-term responsibility through action,” he wrote.
He then shared three steps that he will implement in the future, including no longer carrying out endorsement and sponsorship activities under his name Chris Wang, to quietly carry out acts of atonement, and to donate his social media platforms to a good cause.

“The social media platforms previously owned by Chris Wang (Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube channel) will be handed over to professionals in gender studies, psychology and education. They will be transformed into public information platforms to promote gender equality and trauma recovery. You may dismiss it, but 76 percent of followers on these pages are women, many of whom are mothers. I believe this could contribute meaningfully to the promotion of gender equality education. Those interested can contact me via private message. Full management rights will be transferred,” he said.
Chris said that though these actions are not enough to earn forgiveness, he hopes that his choices this time will lead to a more meaningful path.
