After keeping mum for some time amid cheating allegations that cost him a project with producer Yu Zheng, actor He Jianqi finally addressed the said controversy in a very long Weibo post.
On 10 March, the actor took to the social media platform and wrote, “There has been some discussion about my private life recently. During this special period, I did not want to occupy public resources due to the important national news. However, there are many false information, which have been distorted and fermented by those with ulterior motives. I would like to apologise to everyone for the negative impact caused.”
He said that now he has turned 30, he began to examine how he handles intimate relationships and how to establish a healthy one. He said that he and the woman involved in the issue, known as Ms. Long, met through a friend in October last year and admitted that they had taken their relationship seriously.
“In this process, there were beautiful moments and also quarrels. Although regrettable, they are precious memories for me. There is no financial dispute or any form of intervention between us. Because we trust each other, Ms. Long and I have negotiated amicably during this period and decided to break up peacefully,” he said.
He asked for everybody to respect Ms Long’s privacy and not harass her, and stressed that all speculations that have been circulating online are malicious rumours.
“This pressure makes me more determined to be seen as an actor and remembered as the name of the character. I also hope to bring more good works to everyone in the future,” he added.
