After previously embroiled in the enlistment evasion scandal, Darren Wang has recently been arrested again for an attempted murder.
Taiwanese media initially reported that the incident occurred when Darren, who was unsatisfied with the vehicle dispatched by an e-hailing service that he booked, hired individuals to not only attack the driver but also the person in charge.
However, another report has emerged, saying that the whole issue, which actually occurred last year, was discovered because of his military enlistment scandal.
Darren reportedly booked a car from Da’an to Xinyi District in April last year and was unhappy when the driver took a detour. After arguing with the driver, Darren found that he dropped his keys in the car. Seeing that he couldn’t open the door, Darren banged on the window, leading to another conflict.
The actor reportedly told a friend who then found out the driver’s information and hired someone to attack the driver. Darren then sent the photos of the attack to his friends to brag about it.
Meanwhile, the driver reported the issue to the police, but since he didn’t know the attacker, the investigation was stalled.
It was not until last month when New Taipei City prosecutors who were investigating Darren’s enlistment case seized his phone and found footage of him bragging to his friends about beating up the driver, as well as footage of the assailant filming the aftermath of the beating.
The police then arrested Darren and his friend for investigation under the crime of attempted murder. The actor reportedly expressed cluelessness when police came to his door, and was stunned to find he was arrested for attempted murder.
Meanwhile, when asked for information, the actor’s manager responded, “Thank you for your hard work. We are still trying to understand everything. Thank you.”
