While most people would have preferred to have an ordinary family, Harrison Yu recently admitted that there is a blessing in being a child of divorce.

Especially when your parents are Annie Yi and Harlem Yu.

In a recent appearance on a variety show, Harrison spoke about his life following the celebrity couple’s divorce, saying that he kept running back and forth seven days a week due to their shared custody.

“I was with my dad from Monday to Friday, and with my mum on weekends. My mum would work from Monday to Friday and would leave the weekends for me, while my dad was the opposite, not taking work on weekdays, only on weekends,” he said.

However, aside from the minor inconvenience, Harrison said that he actually quite liked the way he grew up due to his parents’ completely different methods of teaching.

He stated that Annie is the kind who supports his artistic ideas and is relatively open-minded, while Harlem teaches him manners and how to behave, which he said enabled him to express his feelings fully.

“If you only follow one side, you will miss something. I think their divorce is a good thing,” he added jokingly.

It is noted that Annie and Harlem ended their marriage after eight years in 2009. She had since married actor Qin Hao, while Harlem tied the knot with news anchor Jinny Chang.
