Renowned Japanese voice actor Daisuke Hirakawa is taking a hiatus from work to undergo treatment for sudden hearing loss.

The news was announced in a statement via his official X account, saying that he suddenly lost hearing in one ear, and that he has to be admitted to the hospital for proper treatment.

Daisuke also promised to get treated quickly so that he can return to work.

On the other hand, his management assured that the hospitalisation will be short-term, and that he is not taking a long hiatus from his activities.

One of the most celebrated ‘seiyuu’ of this generation, Daisuke is known for voicing characters like Enmu in “Demon Slayer”, Tsubasa Hiiragi in “STARMYU”, and Naoki in “Itazura na Kiss”.
